If you haven’t been living under some kind of rock you’ll likely be aware of Zoella. A British Youtube sensation with over 12 million subscribers, a beauty guru come vlogger and more screaming teenage fans than you can shake a stick at.
And it is those same screaming teenage fans that have made her an absolute fortune. These kids will buy anything she puts out, and she puts out a lot! Partnering with Boots Zoella has released all kinds of products under her name in the last couple of years, a very successful partnership for all those involved.
So, with Christmas around the corner, the logical next step for this Zoella/Boots partnership was obvious… an advent calendar.
Fans, or their parents, have been buying Zoella’s calendar en masse and for the no-so-small price tag of £50 (about $65). Fifty… British… Pounds. Unfortunately for everyone involved, said fans (and their parents) are less than pleased at what they received for their money.
Now let’s be fair to Zoella here, we will tell you what you get in the calendar for your £50 and you can decide for yourselves if you think it’s worth it, so here goes:
You get: 7 stickers, a pen, a key-ring, a bag of confetti (no joke), a purse, one bauble (it’s ceramic though so they’re really pushing the boat out), two cookie cutters, a tiny pad, room spray and, last but not least, a votive.
No prizes for guessing how Twitter reacted to this…
Twelve doors… TWELVE!!!
I'm from Norfolk I have more fingers than zoella has doors on her advent calendar.

How can this Zoella bundle be this much and have all this stuff in but the advent calender is £50 and has a load of shit in? pic.twitter.com/o9CJTWuiKl

You guessed it… people are not happy! Someone even worked out the real price of what these items might cost you.
JaackMaate's video inspired me to see how much Zoella's £50 Christmas Advent calendar was worth.
After searching for each item on Amazon and Primark, buying each item individually would all together cost you £21.57 (roughly). So you're paying: £28.43 extra for her name on it. pic.twitter.com/uCXnNDUSzl

Is Zoella ever gonna comment on the advent calendar palaver because I’d really like to see her/Gleam try and justify that price

Luckily for Lauren, a representative from Zoella’s team has now come out to state that the price point set for the calendar was actually not Zoe’s decision, stating:
“Zoe is incredibly proud of the Christmas collection and excited to see it in store. However, the pricing and in store promotional strategy of the collection, including the calendar, is at the control of third parties and is not set by Zoe.”
Would you buy it??
